Greetings from the West Virginia Osteopathic Medical Association!  We are very excited about our 114th Annual Conference and the 2016 Fall Primary Care Update being held at the Greenbrier November 4th through the 6th.

We have a lineup of very engaging speakers and social events for your education and collegial networking.  In the spirit of the Single Accreditation System that is challenging Osteopathic Graduate Medical Education, we are exploring ways to more fully integrating Osteopathic concepts and treatments into our continuing medical education events.

WVOMA has partnered with the leadership of the Osteopathic Medicine Department of WVSOM to provide practical integration of Osteopathic concepts and skills into our CME for the primary care physician. With each half day of topics we have integrated a 30 minute Osteopathic enhancement session.  I hope you will appreciate this innovative approach and look forward to your feedback.

There are a wide variety of topics to cover with a common theme of prevention and preparation. In addition we will be talking about enhancing skills of communication in our practice, patient medical literacy and improving our own abilities to critically analyze medical literature.

We want to draw your attention to a special session, “When Tragedy Strikes”.  This very timely topic will be presented on Saturday afternoon. We have planned this special session on disaster preparedness in light of the traumatic events suffered by the citizens of Greenbrier County.  This two hour segment uses the June 23rd flood that struck the Greenbrier Valley, to help us understand how to prepare our communities and improve the acute and follow up medical care in service of our patients.  We know that you will be impressed by the resilient and self reliant nature of our fellow West Virginians.

To enhance your experience and comfort, breakfast and lunch will be provided daily as well as a cocktail hour on Friday. Our lunch sessions will include the WVOMA business meeting on Friday and a legislative session on Saturday.

Please join us in another step along this journey for lifelong learning.

We look forward to seeing you in November.
